Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Are you accepting new patients?
A: Definitely! We will always be happy to welcome you to our Cary dental practice.

Q: What should I expect at that appointment?
A: During the initial exam, Dr. McKissick will perform a thorough examination which includes: Blood pressure and pulse, whatever x-rays are necessary for you, photographs of your teeth, oral cancer screening, evaluation of the health of your gums and supporting structures, examination of the structural health of your teeth and any existing restorations, examination of your jaw joints and bite. The new patient exam takes approximately 1 ½ hours. The Diagnodent, a state of the art laser cavity detection instrument, is available for use should it be necessary.

Q: How soon can I expect to start dental treatment?
A: At our Cary Dental Practice, we reserve time for new patients in our schedule so that we can accommodate them within a week or two. After your initial exam, Dr. McKissick will discuss the findings of your exam. There are times when a consultation appointment is necessary to discuss your individual dental needs. There is no charge for this appointment. You can make financial arrangements during this appointment and discuss how you can maximize your insurance benefits. Once you are ready, we can start treatment and help you achieve the goals you desire.

Q: Can I have a cleaning the day of my exam?
A: We typically do not schedule new patients for a cleaning because everyone’s dental needs are different and we want to ensure that you receive the proper treatment for your particular condition. Most times a patient will be scheduled for a cleaning after the initial exam within a week or two. However, there are instances when a person may have a periodontal problem that needs to be treated prior to being able to have a regular cleaning. At future checkups the exam and cleaning will be done in one visit.

Q: How can I whiten my teeth?
A: Our Cary dental Practice offers a few options to whiten your teeth. One way is done right here in our office, using the Britesmile technique. In just two hours you can have a whiter, brighter smile that will last for years to come. We supply you with a touch up kit so you can maintain the bright shade you left here with. You may also purchase the Britesmile To Go system; it includes the Britesmile whitening pens (which you paint on your teeth twice a day for two weeks), Britesmile toothpaste and mouthwash.

Q: Do you file my insurance?
A: Yes, we will happily file your insurance for reimbursement to you. We do ask for payment in full at time of service. Your insurance company will reimburse you directly.

Q: Do you have payment plans?

A: Yes, our Cary dental practice has several financing options through a third party financing company that will be sure to meet your individual needs, from short term to long term financing. We also offer discount for prepayment of dental treatment. You may call our office to discuss the several ways in which we can help you make your dental treatment more affordable.
