Dr. Kurt McKissick grew up in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In 1971, he attended Duke University, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Zoology in 1975. From there, he matriculated to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Dentistry where he obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. Since that time he has remained in private solo practice. He first practiced in Angier from 1979 to 1990. He has been practicing in his Cary dental office from 1990 to the present.
Since graduation from dental school, Dr. McKissick has attended numerous continuing education courses including six-week long courses at the world renowned Pankey Institute, hands-on courses in esthetic and cosmetic dentistry at the Las Vegas Institute (LVI) for Advanced Dental
Studies, and courses by Pete Dawson and Frank Spear. Dr. McKissick completed the Misch International Implant Institute prosthetic program and implant placement program. Dr. McKissick has also attended the Advanced Bone Grafting program at the Pikos Implant Institute. Each year since dental school, he has attended at least one hundred hours of continuing education, six times the amount required by the North Carolina Board of Dental Examiners.
Dr. McKissick is a member of the prestigious Seattle Study Club that meets on a regular basis to discuss challenging cases, exchange ideas with peers, listen to renowned speakers to stay current with the latest courses and techniques in dentistry.
Dr. McKissick enjoys nearly anything that takes him outdoors including snow-skiing, mountain and road biking and white-water kayaking. |
